Coaching

It takes a certain amount of bravery to ask for feedback on your writing, which is why you shouldn't ask just anyone to read your work. One wrong word or poorly phrased critique from an inexperienced friend or fellow writer could destroy your confidence and set you back weeks, months, years — or worse, make you give up writing altogether. The truth is, delivering feedback to writers is an art form and not everyone has the knowledge or skills to do justice to the task.

Before I was a writer and a book coach, I was a teacher. The skills I gained in that profession are directly transferrable to my life as a book coach. I pride myself in my ability to both uplift and challenge the writers I work with. Read on to learn more about my coaching style.

What You Get

  Compassion

I'm a cheerleader for every writer I work with, so you can expect lots of affirmations when you're on the right track. If you veer off course, I provide honest and constructive feedback but always deliver it with compassion and understanding.

  Feedback

I express my thoughts best in writing, so after reviewing each submission, I take some time to process what's working and what's isn't, then I leave lots of in-text comments that are both informative and easy to follow.

  Guidance

Once I identify a cause for concern, I'll make sure you understand why it's an issue. From there, I might invite you to consider certain viewpoints or ask thought-provoking questions to help you identify a solution.

  Support

If you feel that you need further support following receipt of your feedback, you'll have the option of booking a debrief session — a one-hour video call to dive deeper into the issues raised and brainstorm possible solutions.
